The noughties are an time that we often look back and cringe at, what with those Ed Hardy trucker caps and Juicy Couture multi coloured tracksuits, with Paris Hilton and Nichole Richie epitomising the era. However, I think it is set to come back in a big way, for example, Vetements have collaborated with Juicy Couture, . It’s only natural we put down what has just come before us, as we are so set on what’s up and coming, what’s next and what’s new, however, with the noughties becoming more and more in the past, the trends we were once sickened by are popping back onto our radar.
A significant one that has been showed recently is that of the chain mail dress, or just chain mail in general. An iconic image of Paris Hilton in a Julien Macdonald dress for her 21st birthday has been recreated in a similar piece worn by it-girl/supermodel Kendall Jenner for her 21st, too, as well as being copied by Bella Hadid. Not only did Kendall re-create the iconic look, but Olivier Rousteing has been doing it for a while with his Balmain creations.
